The Governance Coach
Senior Consultant
Richard Stringham, GSP, is a Senior Consultant with The Governance Coach™.  He  enjoys  working  with boards  and colleagues  to  find practical solutions to thorny governance puzzles. He brings a mix of leadership skill development, parliamentary procedure knowledge, and facilitation skills to his work.

For 20 years, Richard served in a non‐profit organization where he provided leadership development and facilitation services for the rural community, co‐operative, and agricultural sectors. His clients included elected leaders, management, and volunteers. In addition to leadership skill development, the role included board development and facilitation of board planning. It was in this role that he began to study the work of Dr. John Carver, the inventor of the Policy Governance model.

He took a management position with a professional regulatory organization as a direct report to the CEO. He introduced the governing council to the Policy Governance system and was a key resource in the background research, design of member consultation, and communications for the transition to Policy Governance. Serving in that capacity, he was able to learn and develop practices for the hands‐on application of Policy Governance.

Richard received advanced training at the Policy Governance® Academy™. He regularly participates in professional development regarding the Policy Governance system, chairs the Model Consistency Committee of Govern for Impact, and has tutored the first five cohorts of Govern for Impact’s Policy Governance Proficiency Program.
